Anushka Shetty: The Beautiful “Lady Superstar” of South Indian Cinema

Sweety Shetty, known by most people as Anushka Shetty, is a Tamil and Telugu film actress who has a huge fan following and got national and international recognition after her role in one of the biggest Indian Movies “Baahubali”.

Anushka Shetty has won many awards including CineMAA Awards, Nandi Award, TN State Film Awards and Filmfare Awards. With appearance in more than 50 movies, Anushka Shetty is one of the highest paid actors in India. Interestingly, Anushka is known by many as Lady Superstar of South Indian Cinema.

Anushka Shetty’s Beginning:

Sweety (Anushka Shetty) was born on 7^th November, 1981 in a beautiful coastal city of Mangalore, Karnataka. She has her parents, Prafulla and A. N. Vittal Shetty, and her two elder siblings, Gunaranjan Shetty and Sai Ramesh Shetty in her family.

Anushka is a Bachelor of Computer Science and she did her graduation from the prestigious Mount Carmel College in Bengaluru.
Most of you might not know this but Anushka is also a yoga instructor.

Career in Fashion and Entertainment:

Anushka Shetty’s debut film was 2005 Telugu film Super in which she starred alongside Akkineni Nagarjuna and Ayesha Takia. In the movie reviews by IndiaGlitz, Sify and many others, Anushka was praised for being beautiful and having a sexy body but her acting was not really mentioned.
With IndiaGlitz calling Ayesha and Anushka “cool and chic” and calling their “angles and curves” glamorous, not much was said about the actress’s acting talent.

In the same year, Anushka did a movie called Maha Nandi. For this movie, too, Anushka did not get a good review as the reviews said that the movie lost its touch after the first half. One of the reviews from Sify said “Anushka looks ravishing thanks to Vasu’s camera which is a major plus for the film.”

The Big Break (2009–2010):

Anushka Shetty got her recognition that she deserved when she starred in the blockbuster hit movie Arundhati. The movie saw a huge blockbuster success and, with it, so did Anushka. Arundhati is a heroine-centric fantasy film in which Anushka played a double role. This movie saw success critically as well as commercially.

Anushka was praised by all for her role in this movie and this time, critics talked about Anushka’s talent more than her body and “curves”. Many critics said that Anushka was at her best in this movie and called the movie “totally Anushka’s film”.

Anushka Shetty won Nandi Special Jury Award and the Filmfare Best Actress Award for the movie “Arundhati”.

After this, there was no holding back for Anushka. Anushka went on to become the most sought after actresses in South Indian film industry and eventually became one of the most paid actors in India.

In 2015, came the movie Baahubali directed by S. S. Rajamouli. Baahulbali became one of the top-grossing movies in the Indian Film Industry. Anushka Shetty was surrounded by compliments for her role in this movie and rightfully so. Anushka Shetty is now referred to as the “Lady Superstar” of South Indian Cinema.

The Hindu said the Anushka Shetty was gutsy to take on a role like this and no one else would’ve done the character of Baahubali’s wife, Devasena.

Her latest movie was Nishabdham which was released in 2020 which was released on the online streaming service Amazon Prime.

According to republicworld.in, Anushka Shetty is worth $23 million in 2020. This figure is not accurate and might be slightly wrong since there is not much information about her net worth.

Just like her net worth, her relationships also are not something the world knows a lot about.

Relationships:

Anushka Shetty has been paired with many men. Most frequently, Anushka is rumored to be in a relationship with her Baahubali co-star Prabhas. Anushka has shut down these rumors time and time again. She says that Prabhas is her very good friend and nothing else.

In an interview, Anushka once said that she was in a relationship with someone but she doesn’t want to reveal who it was because she does not want extra attention on this. She said that if they were together at the time of the interview, she would’ve revealed who it was.
