Remember, stay inside the blanket. Nothing can get you if you are under a blanket.

1- It

This movie took the box office by storm when it was released in 2017. It is a movie based on the Stephen King Novel with the same name. It is about a clown, Pennywise, that comes to prey on the children of this town every 27 years and a group of kids that are forced to overcome their fears and fight this clown.

This movie is filled with jump scares and has an engaging story for you to get hooked on.

It Chapter 2, the conclusion of the story, was released in 2019. Watching the two movies back to back should be a fun experience.

2- A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

It is a Wes Craven’s classic horror movie. It is about Freddy Krueger, a disfigured midnight mangler who hunts down teenagers in their dreams and kills them, as a result, they die in real life. The story revolves around Nancy who begins to suspect that maybe the dark secret of her family can be a solution to this terrifying problem. Check out if Nancy and her boyfriend, Glen, solve the mystery before it’s too late for them.

3- Paranormal Activity

This is a film series about different families going through… you guessed it, paranormal activities in their houses. What interesting about these movies is that they barely have any scripts. The cast is given the general direction of what has to happen in the scene and they improvise the whole thing. Another interesting thing is that the budget of these movies is surprisingly low compared to their box-office turn out (in millions).

Scary nonetheless, these movies are sure to give you the chills and make you check behind your back every few minutes.

4- The Conjuring

This movie broke all record when it was released. The conjuring was known as one of the scariest movies of all time.

It is about a family who moves in a new house which is haunted, obviously. They take help of this ghost hunting couples who try to exorcise the house so that the family can live in peace.

This movie is filled with eerie vibes and scenes that will flash in front of your eyes randomly when you go to sleep at night.

5- Insidious

This movie has four parts, but personally, I like the first two the best. These movies bring something different in the horror genre. These movies are adventurous as well as scary. One of the best stories you could find in this genre.

These movies are, again, about a family dealing with their dark and scary past and spirits trying to take over.

6- Exorcism of Emily rose

This movie is so scary that my sister couldn’t sleep alone at night for about half a year, literally.

It is about Emily Rose who has six demons inside her. It is about her struggle to live and to get rid of these demons. I don’t want to give you any spoilers so that is all you get for now. Check out the movie, it is totally worth it.

Oh, and also, the story is totally true. Almost everything that happens in the movie happened in real life. So enjoy!

7- The Shining

The story of this movie is based on Stephen King’s novel with the same name. It is about the haunting stories of the Colorado’s Stanley Hotel which are said to be true. This movie is one of the most famous horror movies of all time and is considered a classic.

The story is about Jack Torrance, a struggling writer who accepts a caretaker of the Hotel called Overlook Hotel.

8- Scream (1996)

Another classic movie which is a must of this Halloween is Scream.

The story revolves around a teenager who is terrorized by a killer after the mysterious murder of her mother a year ago. The teenager and her friends start getting mysterious scary calls and murders all around them.

9- Halloween (1978)

Halloween is too a classic. It is about a six year old kid who brutally killed his 17 year old sister after which he was sent to prison. After spending 15 years in prison, the 21 year old gets a chance and escapes to come back to his hometown in search of his next victim.

10- The Exorcist (1973)

Yet another classic, The Exorcist is a hugely celebrated movie and is considered a masterpiece. A truly terrifying story, the movie was actually hated by many for being too scary. The church even spoke against it for how the demons in the movie disrespected God and Jesus. The crew of the movie reported to go through some paranormal experiences during and even after the shooting of the movie. After a huge fire on set of The Exorcist which killed a worker on the set, the set was blessed by a priest almost every day before the shooting began.

The story revolves around a 12 year old girl who is possessed by a demonic entity. It shows the struggle of the mother and the two priests who came to exorcise the girl.

This Halloween, if you truly want to be scared by a movie, this is it. Even after more than 30 years of its release, The Exorcist is celebrated in the horror genre to this day.
