Rihanna sparks a controversy!
“My mother would kill me if I posed nude! My mother raised me with certain standards” – This Rihanna quote is not ageing too well, the Singer-songwriter recently posted a shirtless picture while holding her chest and wearing a pendant of this Hindu deity Ganesh.
Robyn Rihanna Fenty is a Barbadian singer, actress, and businesswoman. The 32-year-old has been a part of the music industry, discovered by Evan Rogers, The American record producer who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes; her tape would eventually be played for rapper Jay-Z, who had recently been appointed as president and CEO of Def Jam, Which was funny because in a few years Rihanna’s style would eventually be compared to Jay-Z’s wife Beyoncé’s aesthetic.
Now that we’re talking about aesthetics, Rihanna recently put up a post that’s got all of the desi twitter into a flutter (say that thrice really fast!).
This is the second time in the past month that Rihanna’s in the news, the first was the tweet she posted about the farmers’ protest.

Her tweet reads ” why aren’t we talking about this?” #farmersprotest, Which was met with a lot of people telling Riri to stay in her lane, not comment on “internal” Indian issues, it became a matter of Conversation around every dinner table for a few days, another generation of youth discouraged to listen to musicians from the west.
There was so much hate from the IT cells. It was surprising that Riri’s websites and socials didn’t crash. This was on Feb 2nd, and before the outrage could even entirely die down, Rihanna took it a little further. The post was a part of the ongoing promotion for her brand Fenty. Fenty is a fashion label by Rihanna under luxury fashion group LVMH which launched in May 2019.
She continues to the first person of color and woman to achieve this.
Kylie Jenner has also been associated with a beauty product line in a similar niche.
“You have to just accept your body. You may not love it all the way, but you just have to be comfortable with it, comfortable with knowing that that’s your body – Rihanna”
This quote foreshadowed her lingerie brand, Savage X Fenty which she created in 2018 because she said there was a lack of inclusivity in clothing industry.
I’m going with honesty when the picture first popped on my timeline. I didn’t even notice the matter of concern, A real AND I OOP moment for me, but when I saw it for the third time, I saw it, A topless Riri holding her chest while wearing a lord Ganesh pendant.
Here’s what I think about the plausible perspective of Rihanna!
- She didn’t know it was a god.
- She thought it was just a funky design.
- She was unaware of how seriously India takes its idols of its gods.
- Does she seem to really invest in India lately? ( I for one hope it’s this one because maybe Riri’s moving to India?)
While it’s possible that she did not know, Her social media managers have a responsibility to research everything that goes on her page, They are liable for the hate that she can get from the post, for the social media ” cancel ” moment. The last few weeks have been very India. It could be because Fenty has yet to establish a base in India, possibly because of the prices, perhaps subscribing to the idea that there is nothing called bad press. While there are always multiple ways to look at everything, This would be the correct time for Savage and Fenty brand to take a second to rethink their brand strategy.
in response to the post :
“It’s appalling to see how @Rihanna shamefully mocks our beloved Hindu God #Ganesha,” tweeted Ram Kadam, a state legislator from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu-nationalist party.
“This exposes how #Rihanna has no idea or respect for Indian culture, tradition and our issues here,” he added.
The right-wing World Hindu Council said it had filed police complaints against Facebook and Twitter for hosting the picture and demanded action against Riri’s social media accounts. In January 2019, a legal petition was filed against Ronald Fenty, about the use of the Fenty name for marketing plans.
Time magazine called Fenty Beauty as one of “The 25 Best Inventions of 2017”, citing the breadth of its range. In what has been entitled as the “Fenty Effect”. As soon as Fenty entered the beauty market, it launched itself with 40 shades and as time went on, every makeup brand caught up, Rihanna ushered in a new era for makeup and opened a whole new market making sure to service an underserved community just by making sure the shades it offered was as diverse as the women buying Fenty.
But this isn’t the first time Rihanna has been able to stun people just by existing.
“The minute Rihanna walked into the room, it was like the other two girls didn’t exist.”
Lesser known facts about Rihanna
